August 3, 2017: District Council 37, the largest public employee union in New York City, Supports I. Daneek Miller for Re-election to the City Council
Endorsements of the Miller Movement
June 19, 2017: The New York City Central Labor Council (NYCCLC), a non-profit labor membership organization devoted to supporting, advancing and advocating for the working people of New York City, endorses I. Daneek Miller for re-election.
From the very beginning we knew teamwork makes the dream work, and on Primary Day we showed everyone why. Our Movement turned back the barrage of negativity that threatened to discount the new narrative about Southeast Queens.
With your help, after all the votes were counted, we overcame by nearly a 4 to 1 margin with the truth: schools that put our young scholars on the path to reach their potential; safer communities; investment in our parks, senior centers, affordable housing and libraries; more people working -- the lowest unemployment rate in the City; and an unprecedented $2 billion investment - 2/3 of our City's water and sewer budget - to address flooding. We also protected good-paying union jobs: school bus drivers and attendants, building service workers, school custodial workers and grocery workers; we passed paid sick leave.
Our work over four years changed the narrative and this campaign let us tell a different story. As we look to the future, let's pledge to use the opportunity we achieved on September 12th to bolster what we built, reach new heights as a community and continue to let everyone know about today's Southeast Queens.
The next steps lay ahead. We need to work even harder this fall as we look to November. Let's continue to do it -- together.
